Parks on The Air !!
Join us this weekend, Saturday, March 30th at Ft Yargo starting at 2pm. Everyone is encouraged to experiment with your own radio, antenna, or other ‘outdoor gear’. Those who have experienced the fun and challenge of this aspect of our hobby will be on-hand with additional gear and test equipment to help everyone enjoy the ‘sport’! There will also be an additional HF station available to allow non-licensed operators to experience the fun. Parks have been ‘activated’ with handheld, VHF radios – so the challenge is open to everyone!

Have some fun playing radio in the great outdoors with friends and family ! The Lanierland Amateur Radio Club ( LARC ) is planning to meet at Don Carter State Park – near Gainsville, GA . For those interested in learning about Parks on the Air and enjoying some radio time with friends… please check out the WX4TC discord channel for updates !
We have a 2 day reservation ( Fri afternoon – Sunday afternoon ) for a ‘tent site’. Current plan is to have the KQ4EWW ‘chuckwagon’ on site !
What a great time ! The weather was a huge challenge.. but fun was had by all !
We were lucky to have some aspiring new hams stop by and join in the fun.. Kegan (Brandon’s Daughter) mades some contacts and brought homemade chocolate chip cookies! They were a great snack all night long. Nothing like fresh Philly cheesesteaks at midnight and cookies and coffee at 3 in the morning! We intend to make the good food a staple at all of our outings!
Thanks to Max (KN4OTT) and Joshua (N5FY) for all of coordination, setup, and heavy contesting throughout the night ! We had over 1000 contacts, contacted every ARRL, and racked up tons of bonus points by working so many bands and different modes.
And a special treat this weekend, Jason (WW1SGT) helped us with APRS contacts, involved everyone in tracking with CalTopo – a new, useful tool for coordinating movements and preparing for operations within our community.
